Idenco History

Idenco a story of ingenuity
and perseverance

The Idenco story begins with Monsieur Bellefeuille, an ingenious machinist who works for Héroux Devtek, a Canadian aerospace manufacturing company based in Longueuil that makes landing gear.

Héroux Devtek asked Mr. Bellefeuille if he could make labels to identifier their landing gear. He began making the labels in the basement of his Longueuil home. Soon, Pratt & Whitney, a company that manufactures aircraft engines, asked Mr. Bellefeuille to create labels to identify their products.

With demand proliferating, the basement became too small and more than one man was needed for production. Mr. Bellefeuille’s son Alain took over the company in 1987 and opened Idenco in a triplex in Varennes, where metal identification took shape.

Acquired in 2009 by Hugo Leclair and René-Pierre Roussel, who operated Reproduction BLB then, Idenco gave them access to the aerospace and defence sectors and added expertise and capabilities in screen printing and metal marking/engraving. Idenco moves into the premises of Reproductions BLB in Boucherville to create a specialized metal business unit.

Later, in 2013, Idenco moved to Motamo’s facilities on J-A Bombardier Street in Boucherville, where they remain.

Idenco is now one of North America’s leading manufacturers of metal identification for major aerospace manufacturers
